That reader saw a hummingbird in the cup and let her know that her hummingbird will bring her to FREEDOM. She was right.

02.05.2022 CEO Of Battle Born Beer

It was the end of 1992, and I was laid off from my first job out of college and newly married.. I received two job offers, and "I took the one less traveled" with a “design agency” that paid $10,000 less. There was something special about the company and Steven DuPuis.
I didn’t know it at the time, but a free-thinking, entrepreneurial culture that challenges the status quo instinctively gravitated me to DuPuis.
As the CFO and Vice President for a group of creatives, the challenges of left-brain processes in a right-brained culture were many. A few months after I started at DuPuis I read an article in CFO magazine that said "the best thing a CFO can do for a company is make it money." It changed my “No” mindset, and it empowered me to create new innovative systems and business channels to benefit the company and feed my own entrepreneurial spirit.
This experience provided me with the confidence and ambition to pursue more fervently my passions for the environment, sustainability, and entrepreneurship. In 2006, I began a special project with the Desert Research Institute in Reno, Nevada to develop a Research Park focused on environmental science, clean technology and advanced computing. We opened the DuPuis Ventures office in 2013 in Reno, Nevada where I am now also heading the company’s first brand venture, Battle Born® Beer.
I took the road less traveled and it has made all the difference.
