4-29 Mike Bosma sits down Heather Goldman of Capstak

Based in NYC, Heather is a CRE financial services and tech executive. A 1.0 internet pioneer, Heather was Co-founder, Chairman and CEO of CapitalThinking, a leading application software company for the financial services industry, specializing in CRE finance, investment and risk management. Today she serves as Chairman, President + Co-founder of Capstak, a market network for the commercial real estate industry.

Previously Heather was with Brookfield Asset Management, where she helped the firm build two of its advisory services business, Brookfield Investment Management (BIM) and Brookfield Financial.
Prior to joining Brookfield, Heather was SVP at Starwood Capital. Prior to joining Starwood, Heather was Global Sector Leader – Real Estate at KFI. Heather brought to her nearly five year tenure at CapitalThinking an eight-year background in investment and corporate banking, primarily with the BMO group of companies.

In additional to Co-founding and launching Capstak, Heather currently serves as a director/trustee for global fund complexes managed by BIM. She leads international business development for the Israel Financial Institute. With Kingston she focuses on hospitality direct investments.

Heather has been a frequent industry commentator and guest-speaker at various conferences and graduate schools. Her software deployments have served as the basis for case studies, including a seminal analysis by the IDC Company’s Financial Insights division for CapitalThinking’s innovative work with GE Real Estate.

Heather served as a US Peace Corps Volunteer in Mali, West Africa. She is immediate past board chair and a member of the Honorary Board of University Settlement, where she was a board director for ten years.

Heather is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where she earned a BA in International Relations. She holds an MBA from Chicago Booth. She is a registered representative holding Series 7, 63, 79 and 24 licenses (inactive).
